Christy Williams, 9-1-1 Program Manager, is the 2011 Laverne Hogan Award recipient. The Laverne Hogan Award honors an individual who has shown extraordinary leadership in advancing 9-1-1 in Texas and recognizes a person whose name is synonymous with Texas and 9-1-1: Laverne Hogan, the first TX-NENA president and founding executive director of Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network.

The award recognizes a 9-1-1 Administrator who not only excelled in his or her everyday job but who has gone above and beyond to further the goals of the Texas Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association (TXNENA), and who not only consistently meets, but exceeds, the expectations of their peers. Congratulations Christy!

Sherry Decker, 9-1-1 Public Education and Training Coordinator, was recently elected to the Executive Board of the Texas Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association (NENA). Sherry will serve a two-year term as the North Texas Coordinator; one of four regional coordinators for the State.

NENA's mission is to foster the technological advancement, availability, and implementation of a universal emergency telephone number system. In carrying out its mission, NENA promotes research, planning, training, and education.

Sherry, during her board tenure, hopes to increase Texas NENA membership, expand regional training opportunities, and encourage members to become certified Emergency Number Professionals (ENP).

Congratulations Sherry!
