Center of Development Excellence Speakers' Bureau

Are you part of a group or organization that would enjoy learning more about important topics related to our natural and man-made environment? Does your group want to better understand the population growth that is expected in our region in the coming decades, ways to accommodate this growth successfully, sustainable development, green building, Vision North Texas, or other regional initiatives related to Development Excellence?

The NCTCOG Department of Environment and Development is organizing a new speakers’ bureau that will make presentations on topics related to Development Excellence. Presentations are available for groups including:

Neighborhood associations
Civic and service clubs
Chambers of commerce
School organizations
Nonprofit or community groups.

Speakers' Bureau members are trained, knowledgeable volunteers, each of whom has a passion for engaging the public in discussions about a sustainable future for North Central Texas.

  • Vision North Texas. Topic description: By 2030, the North Central Texas region is projected to add another 4 million residents. How will this growth shape our region? How can we shape this growth to ensure the best quality of life for all North Central Texans? Vision North Texas is a private-public partnership that seeks to help us understand our options for growth. This presentation considers economic development, air quality, transportation, water supply, and other issues facing our region.
  • Development Excellence. Topic description: NCTCOG's Center of Development Excellence promotes the Ten Principles of Development Excellence, which seek to ensure that North Central Texas communities experience quality development that supports a healthy environment and good quality of life. This presentation will explore the Ten Principles of Development Excellence, initiatives that promote and support use of these principles in North Central Texas, and the CLIDE Awards program (Celebrating Leadership in Development Excellence).
  • Texas SmartScape. Topic description: Learn more about how using native and adapted plants in your home or business landscaping can help you save money through reduced water consumption and protect water quality through reduced use of artificial pesticides and fertilizers.
  • Greenprinting. Topic description: An innovative process developed by the Trust for Public Land, greenprinting melds state of the art Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping technologies with input from community stakeholders to identify areas of environmental priority.
