2005/2006 Community Development Grant Awardees - Rural Communities Receive Grant Funding
This year, 43 rural cities and communities in the North Central Texas region were awarded Community Development Fund grants by the Office of Rural Community Affairs. An estimated $9 Million in community development grants were allocated to cities and counties for water, sewer, and housing projects that benefit low-income persons. Most incorporated cities with populations under 50,000 and counties with populations under 200,000 are eligible to apply. Applications for the 2005-2006 funding cycle were due in the fall of 2004. The 2006 program year funding recommendation may be revised if the 2006 regional allocation is increased or decreased due to Federal budget appropriations. Given that the funding is available, the next opportunity to apply for Texas Community Development Program funding will be in the fall of 2006.
For more information about the programs and grant opportunities available through the Office of Rural Community Affairs, please call 800-544-2042 or visit their website at http://www.orca.state.tx.us/ . Here are pictures of the check presentation ceremony.

*Note: 2006 regional allocation may be higher, lower or zero depending on the HUD Appropriations, the State’s actual 2006 CDBG allocation, and the percentage of the 2006 CDBG funds allocated for the Community Development and Community Development Supplemental Funds. The 2006 program year funding recommendation may be revised if the 2006 regional allocations are increased or decreased. |
