Stop Illegal Dumping
Dumping trash in unauthorized locations is considered a real problem by local governments in North Central Texas. It is unsightly and can cause major public health and safety concerns and costs for clean-up can run into the thousands or even millions of dollars. Sites that are not cleaned up can lead to a number of health and safety concerns and fosters a negative image in a community. Studies have shown that people are much more likely to dump on property where a dumpsite already exists.
Dumpsites can contain broken glass, exposed metal, hazardous wastes and other dangerous materials, which can hurt adults and children working and playing near illegally dumped debris. Rats, snakes, mosquitoes and other pests are attracted to and populate around dumpsites, and the costs to clean up these sites can run into the thousands or even millions of dollars.
Stopping illegal dumping makes good environmental and economic sense, and it is everyone’s problem. Help the North Central Texas region significantly reduce illegal dumping by working together with your local elected officials and law enforcement agencies for a cleaner, healthier, and safer community.
