SEE Less Trash Program

Construction & Demolition Debris Management

According to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s (TCEQ) 2003 Survey of Texas MSW Facilities, approximately 1,540,934 tons of municipal solid waste disposed in the North Central Texas region in fiscal year 2003 was classified as construction and demolition debris, representing 17 percent of the total MSW disposed of in the region. According to the North Central Texas Council of Government’s 2030 Demographic Forecast, the region will increase by 4 million residents and 1.5 million households by 2030. This much growth means more C&D debris going to the landfills unless builders, contractors, city staff and the general public are educated on the benefits of recycling and create options for less C&D waste entering the landfills.
