A SAFE Trinity River
with stabilization and reduction of flooding risks
Programs to reduce flood damages form the underlying foundation of the COMMON VISION Program, upon which all other aspects of the program are built. As local governments along the Trinity recognize, the best way to reduce future flood risk is to ensure that floodplain development does not aggravate flooding. To this end, North Central Texas governments have established the Corridor Development Certificate process, which requires permits for floodplain development. The cities and counties along the Trinity have also developed river corridor modeling and mapping that can be used to predict flood elevations.
