Office of Rural Community Affairs Recognizes North Central Texas Non-Entitlement Communities
On October 27, 2005, representatives from the State of Texas Office of Rural Community Affairs (ORCA) and North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) conducted a ceremonial check presentation for non-entitlement communities in North Central Texas that were awarded Texas Community Development Program (TCDP) and Rural Health grant funds. The event, hosted by the NCTCOG, was well attended, with representation from a number of rural communities throughout the region.
The event hosted an array of elected, legislative, State and local officials, and proved to be a great opportunity for smaller communities and their legislative representatives to demonstrate how partnerships between the various governmental entities can improve the region from the outside in. The resulting improvements to their communities will help to boost the vitality and overall health of the communities through a number of initiatives and projects.
The Office of Rural Community Affairs provides opportunities to non-entitlement communities throughout Texas primarily in the way of grants. ORCA serves as the state’s focal agency for the State’s community development, economic development and healthcare programs that target the rural areas of Texas.
