Dallas-Fort Worth is growing! Not only will there be an increase in the number of people and jobs but, as a result, there will be the potential for greater traffic congestion. Rail North Texas provides a means for individuals to have more control over the time they spend on the road in traffic. With the support of local elected officials, business leaders, and the public, a regional rail system can be realized. This multi-year effort has identified 251 miles of additional rail lines that would reach across seven different counties in North Central Texas. A major challenge to implementation of the rail plan is funding. Many funding sources are being considered. To view the funding sources and develop your own funding plan, you can use the Rail North Texas Revenue Options Worksheet. Elected officials, planners, and the public have developed several funding options that allow for increased discussion of the issues. A local consensus will be presented to the state elected officials in preparation for the 2009 Legislative Session. It is the aspiration of all those involved that Rail North Texas will soon provide a more connected way of living for the North Texas region.
