The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) Regulated Fleets Initiative focuses on fleets such as taxis, limousines, rental cars, and hotel courtesy shuttles. Vehicles in these fleets are essential transportation providers, but are usually driven much more frequently than typical passenger vehicles and are often purchased as used vehicles. As high usage rates are associated with higher emissions, these fleets are prime candidates for incentive programs that can help offset the cost of purchasing newer, cleaner vehicles. The initiative will not only promote the turnover to cleaner vehicles, but also best practices to reduce emissions, such as idle reduction and proper vehicle maintenance.
