Construction Fleets Initiatives |
Construction equipment produces approximately 10 percent of all ozone-causing emissions in North Texas. To improve air quality, the Regional Transportation Council, through the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is developing a policy that targets this source of emissions. Public agencies will be encouraged to adopt the policy for public works projects to encourage the use of cleaner equipment and best operating practices. Policy options under consideration are include bidding preferences, financial incentives, or contract specifications.

On June 25, NCTCOG held a stakeholders workshop to solicit feedback from interested parties, including both industry representatives and local governments. Materials from this workshop are available below.
NCTCOG will soon offer grant funding for projects which reduce emissions from construction equipment through the Heavy-Duty Vehicle and Equipment Grant Program. Details on available funds are located here.
Stakeholder meetings were also held in 2007; materials from these workshops provide additional information on this initiative and are provided below.
