North Texas Aviation Education Outreach

Russell Maryland Aviation Education Outreach

To help support, coordinate, and establish an integrated and comprehensive aviation education system in North Texas, NCTCOG has teamed up with 3X Super Bowl Champion and former Dallas Cowboy, Russell Maryland to promote aviation as a viable career choice at local junior high and high school events.   Outreach events, facilitated by NCTCOG Staff, include hands-on flight simulator training and a Russell Maryland presentation that emphasizes the value of hard work and the importance of studying Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).

CAE Simuflite Event, March 23, 2013
High school students who attended one of approximately 15 aviation outreach events in the last year and submitted an essay on why an aviation and aerospace career is of interest, were eligible for the CAE event with Maryland and aviation professionals. On March 23, students selected through the essay competition had the opportunity to fly a full-motion aircraft simulator at CAE Simuflite, the largest corporate aviation training center in the world, at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

CAE provides civil aviation, military, and helicopter training services in more than 45 locations worldwide and trains approximately 100,000 crew members annually.

Maryland, who is a three-time Super Bowl Champion with the Dallas Cowboys and two-time National Champion with the University of Miami, is committed to impressing upon youth the value of education. He teamed up with aviation staff at the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) to visit area schools and bring flight simulators to excite and educate students about careers in aviation.
