In 1995, the Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Clean Cities became one of the first Clean Cities under the Energy Policy Act's provision for an organization that promotes the use of alternative fuels to lessen America's dependence on foreign sources of petroleum. The DFW Clean Cities Coalition is a locally based, private and public partnership group that works to advance the economic, environmental, and energy security goals of the United States by supporting local decisions to adopt practices that contribute to the reduction of petroleum consumption in the transportation sector.

In the DFW Metroplex, the Clean Cities Coalition is administered and supported by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG).  For more information about the DFW Clean Cities Program, contact Mindy Mize at 817-608-2346 or Pamela Burns at 817-704-2510.

  • to increase the use of fuel blends (i.e. diesel/biodiesel & ethanol/gasoline)
  • to accelerate sales of hybrid electric vehicles
  • to promote informed consumer choice on fuel economy
  • to encourage the use of idle reduction technologies for heavy-duty trucks and other vehicles
