North Richland Hills - Home Town

Hometown North Richland Hills
HomeTown is a large master planned community in North Richland Hills that incorporated pedestrian-friendly design. The North Central Texas Council of Governments’ (NCTCOG) 2001 Land Use Transportation Joint Venture Call for Projects funded $120,000 with additional funding from the City of North Richland Hills to upgrade an intersection on the north side of Hometown next to Birdville High School to improve access to the development.

The development started in 2000 and as of 2009, it contained approximately 1,000 residential units including apartments, assisted living, townhouses, and patio homes. The majority of the single-family housing is currently complete and the first phase of the Town Center is finished. Town Center contains approximately 190 apartments, 55,000 sq. ft. of retail, and 10,000 sq. ft. of office space between a shopping center and NRH2O Water Park, and is located across the street from Tarrant County College Northeast Campus.

The City of North Richland Hills has made HomeTown the center of many of the City’s amenities and services. The City built a $10 million library, and Birdville Independent School District built a $13 million elementary school in the Town Center.  A 25-acre park and bike and pedestrian trails provide an important connection between neighborhoods and the existing North Electric Trail to the south, the NRH2O Water Park, and the college. In between the Town Center and the single-family housing is the NYTEX minor-league hockey arena.
