As the Mobility on Demand (MOD) concept continues to gain traction across the country, transit providers in the DFW region are moving forward with implementing innovative transit services, including partnerships with transportation network companies.
In October 2016, FTA MOD Sandbox Program announced DART was awarded $1.2 million to develop an integrated, multimodal application that leverages ride-sharing services to improve ease of access to DART stations, particularly in non-walkable areas underserved by transit. This project will identify opportunities for innovative transit services and partnerships that maintain
NCTCOG formed the MOD working group in January 2017 to provide a forum for transit agencies, local governments, and other interested parties to support DART’s implementation of this FTA MOD Sandbox project, as well as to discuss, coordinate, and promote demonstration of MOD concepts and solutions in the region.
NCTCOG will sponsor the meetings of the MOD working group each quarter.
