About the project

The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is conducting a countywide public transportation needs assessment in Collin County.

Collin County has been experiencing extensive growth in recent years. The county’s population has grown by nearly 60% in the last decade, to over 800,000 residents.  While the number of people traveling in Collin County has increased, transit options do not exist for most residents and it has been difficult to measure whether the diverse needs of the county are being met. As the North Central Texas region continues to grow, Collin County faces challenges in achieving an efficient and cost-effective public transportation system.

NCTCOG, along with local government officials, transportation representatives and various partner agencies are undertaking this needs assessment and planning study to review existing transit services and develop transportation options in Collin County that could be implemented in the next three to five years. Nelson\Nygaard Consulting Associates is leading this effort for NCTCOG.
