Energy Star Building Portfolio Manager: Benchmarking for Energy, Water, and Waste - For Local Government Buildings

Description:

You can’t manage what you don’t measure.

This training will show attendees the nuts and bolts of EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager®, an online tool local governments can use to measure and track energy and water consumption, as well as greenhouse gas emissions, and waste. Use it to benchmark the performance of one building or a whole portfolio of buildings, all in a secure online environment.

Not sure if Portfolio Manager is for you?

You can use Portfolio Manager to manage the energy and water use of any existing building, including K-12 schools, city halls, wastewater treatment plants, stadiums, park facilities, community centers, and more! All you need are your energy bills and some basic information about your building to get started.  You can also use Portfolio Manager for new buildings that are currently under design.

Who should come to this training?

This training is appropriate for energy managers, facilities managers, or those staff are familiar with the energy, water, and waste bills and tracking this information.

For the greatest benefit from this training bring 12 months of utility bills for an actual building. The group will walk through inputting data into the system and see the results. In addition, having someone who is familiar with the building characteristics (i.e. square footage, number of computers, etc.) is important.

Training Topics Include:

  • Benchmarking Your Facilities with Energy Star Building Portfolio Manager
  • Specific on how to enter data and what type of data
  • How to track savings and find irregularities in data
  • How to identify a strategic plan based on what the data is telling you
  • Benchmark an example building with real facility data

For the Greatest Benefit Bring:

  • Laptop
