Basic Records Management for Law Enforcement/Public Safety Agencies
This course provides an understanding of the records management program for Law Enforcement and Public Safety agency records and is intended for all law enforcement and other public safety agencies. The course will address state and federal records laws and necessary compliance with state laws pertaining to public safety agencies. The material offers an examination of the records life cycle from creation to destruction, and procedures utilized during each life-cycle phase. The class will also review procedures and policies agencies should consider when administrating their records management program. The course is designed to benefit new or current records managers, and is taught by a Certified Records Manager (CRM).
Advanced Records Management for Law Enforcement/Public Safety Agencies
This is the companion course to the Basic Law Enforcement/Public Safety records management class. The advanced course offers more specific and in depth issues of agency records. The course includes procedures and accepted methods for a records inventory, analysis of the records held by the agency, creating a records retention schedule, analysis and development of filing and retrieval systems, records storage, and final destruction. This course includes discussion of records management in all media, including electronic and microfilm, and industry accepted practices that result in an efficient and cost-effective records management program. The course is designed to benefit current and advanced records managers and is taught by a Certified Records Manager (CRM).
