This class covers all aspects of the Texas Public Information Act as prescribed by law under the regulation of the Office of the Attorney General and satisfies the training requirements of section 552.012. The class covers all laws, answers questions involving practical application of the law, and responds to all anomalies and special considerations of requested information from various sources and under various conditions. The course and the instructor is certified by the Office of the Attorney General and satisfies Texas Code training requirements for elected officials and those assigned to administrate public information in their organization.
 

Objectives

The objective of this course is to present an overview of current laws and practices, as well as to answer questions and provide guidance for Open Records and Open Meetings procedures. This course is taught by staff from the Texas Attorney General's Office.
