Irving - Northwest Rail Corridor

The Northwest Rail Corridor Sustainable Development project is located in Las Colinas in Irving. Las Colinas is a mixed-use planned community located in Irving with high-rise office towers, retail centers, upscale residences, apartment complexes, and recreational facilities. Other attractions in the area include Irving Convention Center, Mustang Square, and a River Walk-styled canal with an above-ground Las Colinas Area Personal Transit System (APT) System connecting various developments.

Las Colinas has approximately 22 million sq. ft. of office space, 1.3 million sq. ft. of retail space, and 3,000 residential units. The proposed mixed-use developments were planned to contain approximately 700 residential units and 800,000
sq. ft. of office and retail space.

NCTCOG awarded transportation improvements of $6.9 million, with a local match of $3.78 million from the City
of Irving through the 2001 Land Use Transportation Joint Venture Call for Projects.  An additional $8.22 million was added from NCTCOG for rail improvements for the project.

The project included rail transit improvements and construction of DART’s Orange Line, Transit Mall, and Las Colinas APT System to connect to the Las Colinas Urban Center Station.
