Richardson - Galatyn Park
Galatyn Park is a 500-acre transit-oriented development built around the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Galatyn Park Light Rail Station in the City of Richardson. DART extended the Red Line Light Rail to Galatyn Park Station
in 2002. During the same year, three developments were completed around Galatyn Park Station.
The 12-story Renaissance Dallas Hotel, with 336 hotel rooms and 35,000 sq. ft. of meeting rooms, overlooks
the light rail station. Across the street, the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts completed a 1,600-seat auditorium and conference center.
Countrywide Home Mortgage also added two new buildings to expand their office complex to 800,000 sq. ft. in
2002. The first residential building to be built in the development was The Venue, in 2007, with approximately 280 apartments and 6,000 sq. ft. of retail space, just south of the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts. In 2007, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas started construction on a 15-story headquarter building with 1.1 million sq. ft. of office space to be completed in 2010.
Galatyn Park is connected to the Arapaho Center DART Station by a bicycle and pedestrian trail called the North Duck Creek Trail that runs parallel to the DART line. The North Duck Creek Trail continues north of the Galatyn Park station to the Spring Valley Nature Preserve and a residential neighborhood to the east.
