Flower Mound - West Windsor Extension
The West Windsor Extension project is a pedestrian improvement project supporting new mixed-use development. The River Walk at Central Park is a mixed-use development consisting of residential apartments, retail stores, a grocery and a medical office. Windsor Street connects to the entrance of the development which is lined with shopfronts along the newly constructed street. The River Walk development, located adjacent to an existing hospital site, includes 348 residential units, 95,586 sq. ft. of retail and restaurant space, and 116,630 sq. ft. of office space.
The West Windsor Extension included an addition of two roundabouts, an eight-foot wide concrete trail, and a six-foot crushed granite trail along West Windsor Street which provides access to the new development from the existing residential area.
This project was funded through the 2009-2010 Sustainable Development Call for Projects. NCTCOG funded $2,986,560 with a local match of $746,640 from the City of Flower Mound for street construction, pedestrian amenities, and landscaping to support the pedestrian improvement project.
