Medicare GUIDE Benefit
Medicare offers a benefit titled Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) for people living with dementia and their family caregivers. It provides dementia education, case management, medication management, and a 24/7 helpline. In addition, caregivers may qualify for up to $2,500 per year in respite care.
To qualify, a person must receive healthcare through traditional Medicare (i.e., not an Advantage Plan), have a diagnosis of dementia, not be living in a nursing facility, not be receiving hospice care, and receive services from a GUIDE provider.
