Hazard Mitigation
The region is susceptible to a range of natural disasters like floods, tornadoes, and wildland fires. The need for adequate preparation is not a matter of "if" but "when." While we cannot eliminate the threats of disasters, good planning and action can help minimize their impacts. NCTCOG EP is committed to working with local governments to ensure that the region is as prepared as can be. With FEMA mitigation funding, NCTCOG EP has helped several counties develop or update their FEMA-approved hazard mitigation plans, making the participating communities eligible for FEMA mitigation funding.
