Public Information Requests

The Texas Public Information Act (formerly the Texas Open Records Act) Chapter 552, Texas Government Code, establishes requirements for governmental bodies to respond to written requests for access and/or reproduction of public information. The Texas Public Information Act does not require governmental bodies to create new information, perform legal research, or to answer questions. The request must ask for records or information already in existence. Please be advised there may be a charge for copies of public information in accordance with state law.

How to Submit a Request

Because the Texas Public Information Act is only activated by a written request for documents, all requests for copies of NCTCOG records must be in writing. Requests can be submitted in the following manner.

Mail request to: NCTCOG
Attn: Open Records
616 Six Flags Drive
Arlington, TX 76011
Fax request to: NCTCOG
Attn: Open Records
Deliver in person to: NCTCOG
Attn: Open Records
616 Six Flags Drive, Centerpoint Two
Arlington, TX 76011

There is no specific form required for submitting public information requests; however, to ensure the process is completed as efficiently as possible, please include the following information.

  • Requestor’s Name
  • Requestor’s Mailing Address
  • Requestor’s Email Address
  • Requestor’s Phone Number
  • Date of Request
  • Date of incident or document in question for which you seek information (if applicable)
  • Specific description of the information you are seeking. If you do not have specific information, then explain the facts surrounding your request that will help narrow the scope of the search.
  • How you would like your response sent (mailed, emailed, picked up in person)
