NCTCOG hosted the webinar, Data Centers in Texas – Energy Resources Impacts and Policy Updates, on data centers and electricity on Friday, August 28, 2026. This webinar provided information on data centers and their electricity consumption, the different energy technologies used by data centers, and the potential impact on Texas’s electric grid. Additionally, an update was shared on State policy efforts, and how local governments can share information on data centers with their residents. This webinar included time for a Q/A with speakers.

This webinar is part of NCTCOG’s efforts to help local governments within the region become better informed on data center impacts, and is a follow-up to a previous water-focused data center webinar hosted by NCTCOG hosted on August 7, 2026, titled Data Centers in Texas - Water Resources Impacts and Policy Recommendations.
