North Texas Prepares
Prepare Today. Ready Tomorrow.
What is NorthTexasPrepares?
Our goal for North Texas Prepares is to create a trusted hub for emergency preparedness and community resilience across North Central Texas. Whether you're a resident, business owner, educator, or first responder, our tools, data, and resources help you prepare, respond, and recover from natural disasters, and other emergencies. Together we can build a safer, stronger North Central Texas.
Who are we?
This website was produced and is maintained by the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG). NCTCOG is a voluntary association of, by and for local governments, and was established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development.
This website was developed and funded in whole through the Federal Emergency Management Agency Regional Catastrophic Preparedness Grant 2024, to provide local governments and other users a "one-stop shop" for a comprehensive inventory of tools, data, and other resources that address building community resilience. It is hoped that this will help users quickly locate resources that meet their needs. Additional topics are planned to be added in the future, as resources are available.
About the Regional Catastrophic Preparedness Grant Program (RCPGP)
Our Goal
To improve community resilience in our region by providing knowledge and empowering communities to prepare for and respond to disasters, ensuring the community is involved in our emergency response planning, preparing for the increasing impacts of hazardous events, and ensuring public safety is aware of the threats and challenges in their local communities.
What is Resiliency?
Resiliency for the North Central Texas region was ultimately defined as "The ability to anticipate and adapt to shocks and stressors, withstand and recover from adversities, and proactively prepare for life disruptions through adaptability, preparedness, and situational awareness."
