Arlington, TEXAS – The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) invites the public to provide input on the 2026 FIFA World Cup and events updates, transportation and safety initiatives during a hybrid public meeting at noon on Monday, April 13.

The meeting will be held in the Transportation Council Room at the NCTCOG offices, located at 616 Six Flags Drive in Arlington. Those unable to attend in person can view the meeting online at PublicInput.com/nctcogApril26. Residents can also participate by calling 855-925-2801 and entering code 3014. Public comments will be accepted until May 12.
At the meeting, staff will provide an update on the 2026 FIFA World Cup. NCTCOG is leading efforts to coordinate and develop the transportation plan for the FIFA World Cup games, which will occur this summer over a span of 30 days. This item will provide an overview of what to expect and how to get around in the region during the events.
Additionally, the meeting will include a staff presentation on the Texas Wesleyan University/Collard Street Improvements Study, connecting East Lancaster Avenue to East Rosedale Street in Fort Worth. The project team will develop strategies for improving safety conditions and multimodal transportation access for these two major corridors, which have received significant transportation investments over the last two decades.
Staff will also provide a presentation on the Regional Bicycle Safety Action Plan. In collaboration with regional partners, staff reviewed bicycle crash data, identified safety challenges, gathered public input and developed strategies to improve high-crash areas.
The meeting will also include an overview of national walking and biking events, including Bike & Roll to School Day and Walk & Roll to School Day as well as efforts to promote and incentivize participation among local schools.
Finally, staff will provide an update on overall regional air quality, including measures put in place to reduce emissions. March 1 marked the beginning of the 2026 ozone season for North Central Texas nonattainment areas. The region remains in nonattainment for both the 2008 and 2015 National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for ozone.
Residents planning to use transit to attend the meeting can take advantage of $6 round-trip rides from the CentrePort/DFW Airport Station to NCTCOG via the Arlington Transportation app. Visit ArlingtonTX.gov/ondemand to download the app.
