2025-2026 Household Travel Survey
The North Central Texas Council of Governments and the Texas Department of Transportation are conducting a survey to better understand the travel needs of our region. Your participation in the household travel survey will provide us valuable information on how residents move throughout the North Texas region each day – whether by walking, driving, taking transit, biking, or by other means. By understanding the places you travel, how you get there, and the challenges you face, we can make reliable forecasts about the future travel needs in our region.
As the North Texas region continues to grow, this study will help NCTCOG plan for future transportation projects to make getting around easier.
The Household travel survey is set to begin in May 2025 and run through 2026. We look forward to hearing from you.

We understand participating in the survey could be a time commitment. The American Travel Survey smartphone app makes it easy by automatically recording your trips and then prompting you to fill in a few details.
You can choose to participate in the survey in one of the following ways:
- Using the smartphone app
- Online through a web survey
- Over the phone with a survey representative
Pick the option that works best for you!
Survey respondents will be asked to log their trips on a selected “travel day.” We request you to share a bit about your day-to-day travel—like the places you visited and how you got there. Whether you walked to the store, rode the bus to your work, or drove to a restaurant, your experiences can help us learn how people move through their day and how we can make getting around easier for everyone.
