PROWAG Training Workshop

The U.S. Access Board published new guidelines under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Architectural Barriers Act (ABA) that address access to sidewalks and streets, crosswalks, curb ramps, pedestrian signals, on-street parking, and other components of public right-of-way. These guidelines also review shared use paths, which are designed primarily for use by bicyclists and pedestrians for transportation and recreation purposes.

The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) will host a series of one-day in-depth training sessions to equip practitioners with a strong foundation to understand the rationale behind modern best practices.

Register below to join us for a workshop facilitated by Kimley-Horn and Associates focused on the U.S. Access Board’s final rule on Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines. The US Department of Transportation’s adoption of PROWAG in 2025 ensures facilities used by pedestrians constructed or altered in the public right-of-way are readily accessible to and usable by pedestrians with disabilities.

The workshop modules will highlight key considerations for transportation professionals involved in supporting, planning and developing pedestrian facilities.

Public and private sector planners, engineers, and related transportation professionals in the Dallas-Fort Worth region are encouraged to attend and gain comprehensive training about the current design guidance and best practices to plan, design, and construct pedestrian facilities.

The same material will be covered at each workshop date and location. Seating is limited and registration is required. Registration fee is $15, which includes lunch. The course is eligible for 7 Engineering professional development hours.
