Mobility On Demand Working Group

NCTCOG formed the Mobility on Demand (MOD) working group in January 2017 to provide a forum for transit agencies, local governments, and other interested parties to discuss, coordinate, and promote demonstration of MOD concepts and solutions in the region. As the  (MOD) concept continues to gain traction across the country, transit providers in the DFW region are moving forward with implementing innovative transit services, including partnerships with transportation network companies.

In October 2016, the FTA MOD Sandbox Program announced DART was awarded $1.2 million to develop an integrated, multimodal application that Image of sand, pail, and shovelleverages ride-sharing services to improve ease of access to DART stations, particularly in non-walkable areas underserved by transit. This project will identify opportunities for innovative transit services and partnerships that maintain federal compliance. NCTCOG will sponsor the meetings of the MOD working group each quarter to support the progress of DART's MOD Sandbox grant and to discuss other opportunities to implement MOD in North Central Texas.
