Curb Planning and Management Workshop 2020

Competition for curbside space continues to increase and change with the evolution of competing modes of transportation and new technologies. The goal of this workshop was to provide cities with the knowledge and tools to plan for and attain enhanced curbside management that most effectively balances the curb’s many potential uses. 
The workshop covered:

• Importance of curbside planning and management
• Best practices for managing curbside uses, including car parking, docked or dockless bikes or scooters, pedestrian amenities, bike lanes, transit stops and amenities, ridesharing pickup/drop-off, delivery loading/unloading, and more
• Balancing tradeoffs among curbside uses
• Tools that will assist Dallas-Fort Worth cities with curbside planning
• Group breakouts for in-depth exploration of specific topics and contexts

Finding the Balance in Parking Symposium 2019

The 2019 North Texas Parking Management Symposium "Finding the Balance in Parking" was held August 15, 2019, at the Hurst Convention Center. The Symposium was an opportunity for North Texas planning and development professionals to learn, discuss, and advance parking management knowledge.  North Texans are highly dependent on their cars for mobility, but with the rising cost of urban land and potential mobility disruptions, the status quo of unmanaged free parking creates major challenges to growth.  The question becomes: how do we plan and manage parking in a way that balances the needs and goals of a community while acknowledging economic forces that drive parking demand and the future of mobility?

The 2017 North Texas Parking Management Symposium "Flexible Parking for the Future: Responding to Market Demands and Transportation Choices" was held August 2, 2017, at the Hilton Arlington.
The purpose of the symposium was to focus on these questions:

• How do we build better parking for the estimated 10 million people who will call North Texas home in 2040?
• If cars drive themselves, will they even need to park? What is the latest research and innovative practices in parking management?
• How is parking evolving in response to changing market demands, urban form, and technology?
