Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Transportation Discretionary Grants
The BUILD grant program replaces the pre-existing Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grant program. The Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 BUILD program makes approximately $1.5 billion available for investments in surface transportation infrastructure to be awarded on a competitive basis for projects that will have a significant local or regional impact. BUILD funding can support roads, bridges, transit, rail, ports or intermodal transportation. To reflect the Administration’s Infrastructure Initiative, the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) intends to award a greater share of BUILD Transportation grant funding to projects located in rural areas.
The USDOT announced the BUILD Notice of Funding Opportunity on April 20, 2018. The deadline for FY 2018 BUILD applications was on July 19, 2018. The announcement for FY 2018 BUILD awards is anticipated by December 2018. For more information about the BUILD program, please visit https://www.transportation.gov/BUILDgrants.
